The Ballow Family
Every year I donate a few packages to local charities and other organizations in my community. The Ballow Family won one of the sessions that I had donated last year.
When Crista contacted me in the fall to schedule the session, I was already booked for the season, so we discussed the possibility of a snow session. We decided to stay in touch and keep an eye on the weather and play it by ear. Unfortunately, the timing of the two snow storms that we had this year didn’t work for one reason or another and Crista didn’t want to wait too long, so we decided to pick a date.
Although it was the end of February, it felt like early spring on the day of our session.
Photographing families with older children is very different than photographing families with babies or young children – the family dynamics are different, so I had to plan for this session a little differently than I normally do.
My favorite image from this session is the one of Crista with her girls, laughing – I love that image because it captured them.
